“The new outfit doesn’t look fake. Or the makeup.” He crossed his arms, realizing what had been bothering him since she walked in the door. “I thought you hated contacts. Where are your glasses?”

She waved a hand dismissively. “Just read it.”

SLAVE's Review:

What started out as a slow and tedious story actually tuned out to be a great read. Accidental Goddess, by Lexi Ryan turned out to be a relaxing tale about (pretty much) a woman coming of age or actually coming to grips with her feminine wiles and taking control of her life in  all aspects. The character build up and story flow stayed perfectly in sync and keeps the reader entertained.
This story comes across as a safe read with a certain reality and passion that works great for the romance, unregistered love for self and those closest to you.

“My preddies no more,” Claire cried as Gabbie put on latex free gloves and started to clean Claire’s injured knee.

The fact she’d hurt herself was not the reason Claire was crying. She had torn her tights or “pretties” as she liked to call them. Claire cherished every one of her pretties. Gabbie had learned Claire was very much a girl, something Gabbie never was. Gabbie never cared about dresses or sparkly shoes when she was growing up, but to Claire they were a necessity.

As Gabbie pulled down Claire’s soft pink tights with the lacy backs, Claire looked as if she was being skinned alive. Whatever pain she felt from her scraped knee could have been as great as an amputation, she’d never acknowledge it compared to losing a set a tights to a hole in the knee.

“Mama inks my bess,” Claire sobbed as if she was just shot through the heart with an arrow.

“You still have your white and your blue and your orange pretties and don’t forget your ones with the little flowers on them.”

“I’s never gets better preddies…” she declared with all the melodrama befitting Scarlett O’Hara declaring her love for Tara.

“These pretties were almost too small for you, you’ve been growing so much. How about this?” Gabbie suggested, trying to hold back from laughing in the poor child’s face. To Claire this was life or death. “Your daddy and I will pick you up a new pair on the way home and maybe some big girl underwear since you’ve been doing so good on the potty. These pretties were made for little girls that wear diapers.”

Claire’s eyes perked up. She started to smile, but only briefly, holding the now-torn tights to her heart as she stood up and stuck her chest out.

“Dees was bestest preddies ever,” one little crystal tear fell from her dark mahogany left eye, catching on her soft lash then flowing down her chubby cheek.

Wow! The Guardian's Heart pretty much had me wrapped after the first paragraph. Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down till it was done. Michel Prince has a wonderful writing style that has refreshing view on a tale rarely told—a single young Black male seeking sole custody of two minor children. Michel’s character involvement was great. Even her two year old twins were alive, and not just some cute cherub that gives you a toothache for being too sweet. But more importantly, the story never took a backseat nor did it overpower the romance of the story. It was all evenly balanced and a great read. I look forward to the chance of re viewing more of your work

Marisa is in danger of losing herself to the submissive role and becoming a mindless sex toy. Can Darren restore her mind before she’s actually sold into sexual slavery?

"In fact, we're conducting a market focus group right now. If you're interested, I can ask Darren if you can speak with the focus group. You … "

"No need to trouble yourself. I'll just surprise him." He stood and left the office as if she didn't exist. 

Latoya rushed after him. "Mr. Breaux, you can't just walk in on a hypnosis session. You should let me check to see if the ladies can be questioned at this time." 

She didn't give him a chance to reply, but rushed on to the conference room. She opened the door quietly. Darren was talking casually with the three female agents. They were standing very close, as if the women were just barely resisting the desire to touch his body. 

Latoya mouthed the phrase "he's here" and waved for the ladies to move in tighter. Then summoning as much false indignation as she could, "Mr. Braid! This is a place of business, what do you think you're doing?"

Darren dived into a chair and the three ladies scrambled into position around him; one on his lap, one rubbing his shoulders, and one kneeling at his side caressing his arms. 

"Mr. Braid," Latoya continued. "I know your stories can arouse intense sexual desires. But you must control yourself here. You can't take advantage of these women." The girl on his lap unbuttoned her blouse just before Breaux stepped up behind Latoya. 

"The ladies are just helping me with the market research," Darren smiled like a flamboyantly arrogant rock star. "Aren't you ladies?"

SLAVE's Review:

When I initially started this book, I was immediately taken aback, and turned off for what a thought was a blatant attack on women and I was only on page 2. That was definitely not my cup of tea so I put it down. After two days I had to tell myself that there was no way the publishers would promote such trash. I must have taken it wrong or something. So I settled in and gave it another try. And to my relief, this story was not about hypnotizing unknowing, unwilling girls, and making them your 'fuck toys', but about infiltrating a modern day sex slave ring.

Now with that being said, Redemption for the Hypnotist turned out to actually be a good read. The author meshed an FBI case easily within his story. Now, the only problem I had was the involvement of a citizen, Darren, the male lead, in such a dangerous case simply because he was the leading agent’s cousin who needed to get out of the house. But then why not, I guess.

Once the story got moving I enjoyed all the characters. Darren is the hypnotist. Though he longs for his solitude, he saves a few would-be sex slaves and has some major fun while doing it. The lead female, Latoya, was a thrill to read. I enjoyed that she actually likes to be hypnotized for the different sexual experiences. Marisa, the under-cover agent, I actually felt sorry for, because though she's a tough no-nonsense agent, she really takes to being hypnotized, and almost lost who she really was.

 I really enjoyed this story and was glad I gave it another try. 4 pens for this book by Hypnotic Dream and I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

Goddess Fish book tour: Lakebridge: Spring, by Natasha Troop

Vermont, picturesque and lovely, attracts visitors from across the country in search for the perfect picture, the perfect fall foliage or perhaps a taste of maple syrup. Stansbury is best known for the odd covered bridge that spans Stansbury Lake and goes nowhere, connecting no roads and serving no known purpose. The locals call it the Lakebridge. Very few know of its mysterious origins and fewer care to know more. Those visiting the town perhaps take a few snapshots and leave, their curiosity quelled by an uneasy feeling that they shouldn’t think on it anymore.

The tourists will eventually leave Stansbury, but its residents strangely linger, seemingly held captive by a force they barely recognize. They also do not think about the town’s mysterious artifact much except in passing, all but Gil, his father, Ben, and a few others. They know of the bridge’s dark history and understand that it is responsible for every horror that ever befell the people of Stansbury: the people who fear the bridge but will not speak of it. The bridge makes people do things – bad things – so that it can continue to love and care for them all. 

EXCERPT:

For a while, he thought he would take the Counter Girl. He had always taken the Counter Girls before when he could, but when he stumbled onto this Teacher Girl, he knew he had to have her, that she would make a much better addition to his project. She was so happy and so right. The Counter Girl, for as much as she smiled and made other people happy, didn’t really have that glow about her that the Counter Girls usually had. He figured it was because of her friends who were so damaged. She was damaged by association.

But the Teacher Girl. She was perfect. She could have been a Counter Girl, really. She was always so joyful, she made all the kids so happy, too. Everyone loved the Teacher Girl. He loved the Teacher Girl. When he loved them, he knew he had to have them.

She wrote on her board. She wrote her numbers and her letters and her handwriting was so neat. He wanted to let her finish so that when they came in the next day and she wasn’t there, at least they would have her numbers and her letters. So he waited and watched her. He was in her room and she didn’t even notice. She was too happy for her own good, she didn’t even feel the danger. He hated that he was her danger because he loved her so much and knew that she could never see how pure that love was. But, finally, she was done. She turned around and saw him and smiled.

Natasha grew up in Southern California and received her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA in Comparative Literature. She also holds Masters Degrees in both Secondary Education and Creative Writing. Natasha currently lives in the Phoenix area with her spouse, son, daughter and menagerie of pets, including a Basset named Moose and a very overprotective collie dog. SLAVE's Review:
This book was very confusing to me. The way it began gave me the impression that it was going to be this epic type novel, kinda like knights fighting for honor and all that. That would have been cool, but then it changed. The knight-like guy passed a moose, like a ship in the night thing, and next thing  I knew we were in the moose's POV. I was like huh? The change threw me for a loop and quite frankly I couldn't get back into the book. Also, there were physical issues with the book's set up. Granted, it could have been the conversion to my Kindle, but nevertheless, it too was a distraction to getting into the book. To be fair, I would be up to reading the book in print to give it a fair chance, but for now I can only give it a solid 2 pens.

Wow, what more can I say bout STAR CROSSED by Kele Moon, that hasn't been said before in a previous book, tales or conversation...but I'm getting ahead of myself. For me, a long time fighter in myself, the book was somewhat realistic, but so filled with clichés that it pulled me out of the story. The names, the reasons how he decided on his path, how perfectly compatible his girl was… It all was a bit fairy-tailish to me.

The hero ROMEO is an MMA fighter who got into the sport due to watching the Karate Kid as a child. He’s supposed to be this fierce fighter, but he throws as many fights as he wins because of his 'Maifioso Family' tells him too.

JULIET, our heroine, was an U.S Olympic Judo fighter when she was younger but gave it up loftier ideals. Then we've got Romeo’s loyal half brothers, Casanova and Valentino.

It seemed to me that the author worked so hard trying to convince me that these guys were this standard hot, gorgeous, Italian Mafioso type men, but in the end it was just felt very stereotypically to me and I really had no clue if they're from Jersey, Brooklyn or just an unknown place. For someone who didn’t grow up in New York personally knowing people that she spoke of this may have worked, but I did grow up there I’m very protective of my people and my home.

This wasn’t a bad story, but, like I said, there were too many cheesy names and stereotypical descriptions pulling me from the meat and potatoes of the read. They were like small holes on an otherwise smooth surface. Yes, they were small, but I had to force myself back to the story every time I got pulled out.
