Wow, what more can I say bout STAR CROSSED by Kele Moon, that hasn't been said before in a previous book, tales or conversation...but I'm getting ahead of myself. For me, a long time fighter in myself, the book was somewhat realistic, but so filled with clichés that it pulled me out of the story. The names, the reasons how he decided on his path, how perfectly compatible his girl was… It all was a bit fairy-tailish to me.

The hero ROMEO is an MMA fighter who got into the sport due to watching the Karate Kid as a child. He’s supposed to be this fierce fighter, but he throws as many fights as he wins because of his 'Maifioso Family' tells him too.

JULIET, our heroine, was an U.S Olympic Judo fighter when she was younger but gave it up loftier ideals. Then we've got Romeo’s loyal half brothers, Casanova and Valentino.

It seemed to me that the author worked so hard trying to convince me that these guys were this standard hot, gorgeous, Italian Mafioso type men, but in the end it was just felt very stereotypically to me and I really had no clue if they're from Jersey, Brooklyn or just an unknown place. For someone who didn’t grow up in New York personally knowing people that she spoke of this may have worked, but I did grow up there I’m very protective of my people and my home.

This wasn’t a bad story, but, like I said, there were too many cheesy names and stereotypical descriptions pulling me from the meat and potatoes of the read. They were like small holes on an otherwise smooth surface. Yes, they were small, but I had to force myself back to the story every time I got pulled out.

Incursion, by Aleksandr Voinov

He’s everything Kyle lost with his legs, and he’s from the same home world. He’s also of the warrior caste—half priest, half savior. But Grimm’s been twisted by life as a merc, and Kyle’s stuck undercover as a criminal on the run.

That doesn’t stop Grimm from coming on to Kyle, or from insisting he’s more than the sum of his past and his useless legs. But Kyle has other concerns—like tracking a dangerous morph who could be wearing anyone’s face. And as if things weren’t complicated enough, Kyle can’t tell if Grimm is part of the solution . . . or part of the problem.

What can I say about this book? INCURSION started out to be a pretty decent Sci-Fi, but in my opinion, it didn’t have the room to fully flourish. I walked away with a clearer understanding of the Scorpion (that’s the ship) than I did of the characters. So because of this I'm going to give this book a tentative 2 pens

While jogging in the mountains, the main character, Anika, is barely scratched by a Puma. When she is asleep, Anika sees herself as a Puma and wakes with bloody clothing. The attack left her with ‘un-natural’ desires making it, in her opinion, doubly hard for her to find a mate to accept her for who and what she is. When Anika catches the scent of the one she thinks is her perfect lover, her amazing senses took over and the pursuit was on.

She’s Furry Yiffy is an installment in the shifter anthology, SHE-SHIFTERS. The reader is led to believe that Anika is a Puma shifter, but we don’t actual see any shifting. Her lover claims to be a shifter as well, but she doesn’t shift either. In Anika’s dreams she does see herself as a sleek golden Puma. I asked to read this book because I was interested in seeing how lesbian shifters made love, especially since Anika said, “I must warn you, I get aggressive during love making.” but since this book didn’t have any shifting and the love making was far from aggressive in my opinion, I still don’t know.
